比較級 1
2つ以上のものを比較する表現には、
<as+原級+as~><比較級+han~〉・〈最上級+of[in] >
as large as ~は「~と同じくらい」だが、前に倍数表現のtwice
を入れることで「~の2倍広い」という意味.
■倍数表現
Spain is twice as learge as Britain.
訳)スペインは、英国の2倍の広さだ。
比べる対象が1つしかない場合、比較級でも、theがつくことになる
●比較級にtheがつく例
Betty is the taller of the two 訳)ベティは2人のうちで背の高い方だ。
相関関係(片方が増源すれば他方もそれに従う。)を表す
〈The+比較級~,the+比較級……という構文があります。
比較級の後は、主語+動詞>の語順

The higher you go, the thinner the air become.
訳)上に登れば登るほど空気はうすくなります。

not so much AasBで「AよりむしろB」と意味を表す.Brather than A
もほぼ同じ意味を表すがAとBの場所に注意!△

訳)彼女はモデルというよりむしろ女優です。
<no+比較級+than 比較級になった形容詞の反対の意味。
no more than⇒少なさを強調 : no less than ⇒多さを強調
●no+比較級+than
He had no more than a dolier in his pocket.彼はポケットに1ドルしかありません。
He had no less than a doller in his pocket.彼はポケットに1ドルもあります。
<at+最上級→「最大(最小)で」のような動きを示す働き
at+最上級
She is at best a not-so-bad chef.
She is at least anot-so-bad chef.
彼女はせいぜい悪くない料理人でしかありません。
彼女は少くとも悪くない料理人であります。
