<比較> 形容詞と副詞の比較級の作り方 ①1音節と2音節の語の原級にerをつける。 0 例 strong stronger, qui-et quieter 規則 で終わる語にはートのみをつける。 例 nice nicer 最後の子音字を重ねる。例 big biggen → lo-yで終わる語はierとなる。 early earlier ②-ish-ios, -fulで終わる語の原級の前にmoreをつける。 例 selfish more selfish, famous more famous careful more careful ③音節以上の語に more をつける。 複数形, 過去形の規則 と同じ!! 19 beau-ti-ful more beautiful, in-ter-est-ing → more ④不規則の比較級 → interesting 例 good, well better bad,ill worse, mary.mach more A is + 比較級+ than B (is) = AはBよりもんです。 I like A better/more than (I like) B.AよりBの方が好きです。 than の後に続く節の中では、語句を省略することが多いので、何が 省略してあるか注意すると良い。 例 The pond is better than the liver (is). Mary likes Washington better than (she likes) New York. Tom gotup a lot earlier than Mary ( did).

最上級の形は、 比較級の -er/more を est /mostに変えたものである。 例 late later latesta ' big bigger, biggest famous → more famous, [most famous ・不規則変化 good, well better, best bad,ill→ worse wors ' many, much more, most ・形容詞の最上級にはthe をつけるが、副詞の場合は通常必要ない。 ○「~の中で」と言うとき、 in か of を使う in + 範囲・場所 ... in his class, in Japan of + 複数 (of the ~ /of all the ) . of the three, of all the girls →文頭に置いてもいい。 例 Mary is the most studious girl in her class. Mary is the most studious (girl) of all the girls in her class. ◎・比較級を使った表現 get/become-erand-er (または more and more~) =ますます~なる ・最上級を使った表現 one of the est (またはinest~)+複数名詞+.. =ある範囲の中で最も~なものの一つ ⇒「最も~なもの」だと断定できない場合に使う。
