Everyone
loved the George Hotel.
The Jenkins brothers, the managers of this hotel,
were very kind. People enjoyed talking with them...
And there was a dock.
The big clock in the George Hotel always kept good time
It was very useful to people because there weren't
many good clocks at that time.
But when one of the brothers died, the clock began
to lose time. One year later the other broter died.
From that very moment,
the clock stopped working.
動詞にingがついた形は、進行形で使うほか
「…すること」という意味にもなる。

Writing songs was his job..
In the hotel, Mr. Work found a big clock.
It wasn't working
What happend to this clock?"
Mr. Work asked the manager.
The manager told him about the clock,
and it moved Mr. Work's heart.
'How wonderful! The clock lived with the brothers
he said.
After he talked with the manager,
he wrote a song about the clock.
The song Grandfather's Clock was warm and beautif
just like the clock.
People loved the song.
