世界的に絶滅の危機にさらされている動物のひとつです。

Let us tell you about sea otters.
ラッコについてお話させてください。
▷ Long ago, there were many sea otters in the Northern
Pacific Ocean.
その昔, 北太平洋にはたくさんのラッコがいました。
▷ However, their population decreased rapidly.
しかし, その個体数は急速に減少しました。
People hunted them for their warm fur.
あたたかい毛皮を手に入れるため,人間が狩ったのです。
結果として
▷ As a result, the number decreased from about 300,000 to
2,000 in the beginning of the 20th century.
その結果, 20世紀の初めには, ラッコの数は約30万頭から2千頭にまで減少
しました。
