この例文ですが、なぜ主節の時制は現在完了でなく、過去形なのでしょうか？

主節の動詞:過去形 (returned) 副詞節の動詞:過去完了形 ( had read) As she had read the book, she returned it to the library. ↓動詞が「過去完了形」 なので...... As she Having read the book, she returned it to the library. (彼女はその本を読み終えたので、図書館へ 返した。)
