What's my favorite food? I think most Japanese eat
it at least once a day. Yes, rice. Thanks to rice, we have

Rice has a long history in Japan. It was brought to
Kyushu about 3,000 years ago. At first, rice only grew in
10 warm areas. In the late 1800s, new varieties of rice were
developed, and they could grow in colder areas. This map
shows rice production in Japan in 2018. [Slide 2]

eastern regions than in the western regions.
