4 Hans Augusto Rey was born in Germany in 1898 to Jewish parents.
5 He grew up a few blocks from a zoo.

So he developed a lifelong love for animals and drawing.

8 Later, Margret left her hometown to study art, and they lost touch for a while.
9 In 1935, Hans and Margret met again in Brazil.

13 They soon fell in love and got married in August.
14 In 1936, Hans and Margret traveled to Paris, France.
15 They enjoyed Paris so much that they decided to stay there.
