ビリーの使命
①あの日はどのような天気だったか
乾季の中で最も気温が高い日のうちの1日でした。
作物は枯れかけていた。毎日私の夫と彼の兄弟が農場へ水を運ぶために

一生懸命働いた。
彼らは『近いうちょいくらかの雨が降らなければ私たちはすべてを失ってしまう
だろう』と言った。私は台所で夫と兄弟に昼食を作っていると、6歳の息子の
ビリーに気がついた。彼は森林の方へ歩いていて、できるだけそっとサンウと
していた。彼が森の中に姿を消した直後に、彼は出てきて、再び家の方へ
走った。
私はまたサンドイッチを作りはじめた。しかしながら数分後、彼はもう一度
森の方へ同じ方法で歩いていた。
この行動すなわち注意深く森まで歩き、走って家まで戻え事は
1時間続いた。
