国際宇宙ステーションに滞在する
うちに、宇宙飛行士たちにどのような変化が起こったのでしょうか。
My world-view was changed greatly, probably because of
the experience of looking at the Earth from space. I always
told people my homeland was Japan. But after I spent a
month in the ISS, I somehow began to think that my
5 homeland was the Earth. The same was true for the other
astronauts. At first, when they talked about their home
countries, they pointed to them and said, "That's the US,"
"That's Russia," and so on. However, little by little, they
realized there are no national borders drawn on our planet.
It was quite natural that all of us stopped saying such things.
We all felt that the Earth was our home. This is one of my
greatest memories.
