誰がアメリカを発見しましたか？という文を英語にすると
By whom was America discovered?
なのですが、Americaの部分が複数形だった場合、（these booksとか）wasはwereになるのですか？
どなたか教えてください。

wasはis,amの過去形、wereはareの過去形なので、
単数、一人称視点、三人称視点などの時はwas、複数の場合はwereになりますね。
ex)I was a doctor.
He(She)was my student.
There was a hospital here.
There were two apples on the table.
They were happy. Etc...
