books in translation.
近ごろでは, 海外の多くの人々は翻訳された日本の漫画本を楽しんで
います。
口 But they often get confused when they read them. Why?
しかし,それを読むとき彼らはよくとまどいます。 なぜなのでしょうか。
ロIn Japanese comic books, pages, panels, and Japanese vertical
text are all read form right to left.
日本の漫画はページもコマも縦書きの文もすべて右から左へ読みます。
The three have the same flow running from right to left.
この三つは右から左へと同じように流れていきます。
口 However, this flow is broken in English translation.
ですが,この流れは英語の翻訳版ではくずされています。
口That is, while pages and panels go from right to left, English
horizontal text goes from left to right.
それは, ページやコマは右から左へ流れますが, 英語版の横書きの文
は左から右へと進むのです。
ロ In Japanese traditional art, the flow from right to left is quite
common.
日本の伝統的な芸術作品では, 右から左へと流れることはごく普通です。
You can often find it in old Japanese paintings.
