もう一つ例をあげますね。 I was born at 7:30AM in September.（私は、９月の７：３０AMに生まれました） ７：３０AMの前には、「at」 で、Septemberの前には、「in」という前置詞ですが、なぜでしょうか。 ７：３０AMは、時間の１点を指しているのに対して、Septemberといのは、９月でも9/1もあれば、9/20もあるように、「範囲」が広いです。inのイメージは、「囲まれている」のが前提でしたので、これをイメージを使って訳すと、「私は９月という月に囲まれた、７：３０AMという１点の時点で生まれました」という感じなるんですね。 前置詞は、イメージを使えば、どれが適切か判断がつくようになってきますので、右脳も使いながら英語学習をすると、楽しくなってきますよ。
