確かに、anyは否定文や疑問文で使われるのがふつうですが、実は肯定文でも使う時があります。

肯定文の中で使うanyは「どんな〜」という意味になります。つまり、than any other 〇〇で「他のどんな〇〇よりも」となるのです。

例)
The tower is taller than any other building in our town.
その塔は、私たちの町の他のどんな建物よりも高い。
＝The tower is the tallest building in our town.
その塔は、私たちの町でいちばん高い建物だ。
