Although one of the principles of fair play is to fight
hard, you can sometimes win by avoiding the fight.
Do you know a strategy called an intentional walk in
baseball? Pitchers throw four balls on purpose and let
the batter take first base. In this way, they take away s
the chance of strong batters hitting and scoring points.
In time-limited sports such as soccer and basketball,
wasting time is another strategy to win by avoiding a
fight. The winning team goes on passing toward the
end of the game. In this way, the losing opponent has
no chance to get the ball and score.
