Perhaps this happened when Africa became drier, and savannas" replaced forests. This descent brought changes in our ancestors' diet, lifestyle, and burden of disease. As a species with our feet now firmly on the ground, we tend to think of territory horizontally. However, every environment has significantly different vertical zones. In a forest, certain species of mammals, birds, and insects require the sunlight and food in the leafy treetop layer; others need the shade, moisture, and food on the ground; several intermediate zones may exist between earth and treetops. Moving its usual location only a few meters can radically alter a species' prey, predators, and germs. Today, for example, we often see diseases invade new vertical zones. In Central and South America, mosquitoes infect treetop monkeys with the yellow fever virus. The disease remains isolated in the top forest layer because monkeys and mosquitoes there rarely travel lower. The commercial demand for tropical timber has sent loggers into the forests, and when they cut down a tree, clouds of mosquitoes come to earth with it. The mosquitoes then feed on the warm-blooded animals nearest at hand, the loggers, and transmit the virus. On returning home to cities, the infected workers set off urban epidemics of yellow fever. After our ancestors' descent to the ground exposed them to new diseases, the change in their diet from plant protein to include meat, as they became hunters, brought about another change in disease burden over the next tens or hundreds of thousands of years. In each new ecosystem, travelling hunters met new prey, new vectors (disease carriers), and new parasites*.

(If she had not spent that year (in Rome)), she would be 接 S' ByJ' M₁ V' O' M'2 S By V even less competent (than she is now) (in explaining the c 接 S' M' 36186 current political situation (in Italy)〉, much less 〈in convincing others to accept her views). blito dose no doym ださい。 We must make as much effort as we can to preserve nature. We must make as much effort to preserve nature as we can make much effort to preserve nature. We must make as much effort to preserve nature as we can. → We must make as much effort as we can to preserve nature. 本間では, she would be even less competent in (V)ing, much less in (V2)ing than she is competent in (Ving, much less in (Ving now から than she is now を competent の直後に移動しています。 2. If everyone in the world spoke the same language, it would be much easier to promote world peace than it is now. If I had been born in the U.S., I could speak more fluent English now.

Kakeru and his friend Judy go to a university in Japan. They decided to work together to do some research about people's eating out behavior at night. They sent several questions to 300 families with children in elementary or junior high school. They asked what day of the week the families eat out at night the most and what their primary reason for eating out is. The results are shown in the tables below. Table 1 shows the days of eating out at night. According to the results of the survey, Monday is the lowest percent of all. Only one percent of the families eat out on Monday. The percent of families who eat out on Thursday is half of the percent of Wednesday. On Sunday, ten percent of families eat out. The rate of families choosing Friday or Saturday night for eating out is more than 70 percent, and Friday is higher than Saturday. Why do more families choose Friday and not Saturday for eating out? Many adults and children are on a five-day week, and Saturdays and Sundays are their days off. So, they eat out on Friday night as a reward for finishing the week's work or school. In Table 2, we can see various reasons for eating out at night, but more than 60 percent of the answers are related only to parents. Parents usually make meals for the family, and other members sometimes help to cook. As a result, when parents cannot make dinner, the family eats out. The percent of "For a change" is about half of "All family members come home too late." The research also shows that most children want to eat out more often, but about 50 percent. of parents think they eat out too much. They worry about the cost of eating at restaurants.
