Left-handed People and Accidents Which hand do you use to do most things 一 your left hand or your right one? Most people prefer to use their right hand more. IF this is true of you, then you are right.handed. Left-handed people,( 1 ), are those 5 who use their left hand to do most things 一 eating, writing, holding tools or throwing balls,( 2 ). Aperson whose left hand is used more can alsobe( 3 )alefthander. A Canadian scientist who's been studying lefthanded people, has made some Surprising discoveries about them. The scientist found that left- 10 handers have many more accidents than righthanded people. The study was made of almost 1,900 left-handed students at the University of British Columbia over a two-year period. It was discovered that left-handed people are forty-nine percent more likely to have an accident at home than righthanded people. They are twenty-five percent 15 more likely to have an accident at work. And they are twenty percent more likely to have an accident while( 4 ) sports activities. Many accidents suffered by lefthanded people happen when they use electric power tools. This is because the tools are designed to be held and used easily by right-handers. So, in order to operate them. a left- 20 handed person must use his right hand or else turn his body in a strange position.( 5 ),lefthanders are fifty-four percent more jikely to have, an accident while using power tools than right-handers.
