Q. What kind of theme park is it?
A. It is a complex facility that has attractions and hot springs.
Junglia Okinawa is a theme park located in the mountains of northern
Okinawa, an area called Yanbaru which is an hour and a half drive from Naha.
The land area is about 60 hectares, which is a little larger than Tokyo
Disneyland in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture which is about 51 hectares.
There are more than 20 facilities such as the huge hot-air balloon where we
can see the nature of Yanbaru from the sky, the attraction where we can run
around with dinosaurs in a car through the forest, and a hot bath facility
attached there.
There has been a plan to build a theme park in Okinawa for over 10 years.
In 2015, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) in Osaka City announced plans to
expand its business to Okinawa,but they withdrew the plan after about a year,
and is also one of the reasons why the management structure at USJ has
changed.
However, the marketing company that Tuyosi Morioka, who was an executive
at USJ at the time, independently established announced the Jungle Ria
concept in 2018.
