But did he understand his American doctor ? Did his doetor understand him? Was the patient's life in danger because he and his doctor were from different cultures ? (1 That is what the filmmaker wanted to find out. Religion was, one difference between the patient and the doctor in the movie. The patient refused the treatment for religious reasons.
