能動態とは、「～する」というように主語が動詞の表す動作を行う場合の動詞の形。

受動態とは、「～される」というように主語が動詞の表す動作を受ける場合の動詞の形。「受け身」とも呼ばれます。
　　　　　　　　　[be + 過去分詞] の形をとります。

The ground is covered with snow.
