(６)の問題ですが、私はreturnsだと考えましたが答えはrepeatsでした。
repeatという単語のほうが良いというのは分かっていて、理解もしていますが、returnだとどのようなところがだめなのか教えていただきたいです

for only two weeks. They are one of the insects with the longest lives, but scientists don't

returnは、元の場所に戻る、移動・返却する。

セミのサイクル(生活環？)を再び繰り返すからrepeatかと。
returnだと、セミのサイクルに再び戻るとなり、。

穴埋めの1行前に、
若セミは地球に穴を掘り、17年でまた現れる、とある。

同じ周期に戻るとなると1回切りの感じがします。
だから、周期は繰り返すから反復を表すrepeatかと。
