下の英文について質問です。
比較級の文は、「本来2つ目の接続詞のas（than）の後には一文があり、前文との兼ね合いで省略されなかったものだけが残されている（=つまり、元々は２つの文だった）」という認識でいたのですが、
今回のtwice as〜asのところでは、その構造がよく掴めません。
このtwice as〜asはどのような経緯でこのか形になったのでしょうか？
教えていただけると助かります。
