どのような訳になるのですか？
inが～後だとしたら過去形が使われてるのもおかしい気がします、was going toとかwouldとかならわかりますが…

この文のテーマは、祖国が1番快適とは限らない場合もあるよということなので、言いたいことは日本育ちだけど海外に行って日本に久しぶりに戻ってきたらすぐにout of place(場違い感、不適当)を感じた、なぜなら電車が混んでて…という文章展開をしているのだと思います。
