In 2020 people celebrated the 50th anniversary of
Doraemon's debut. This robot cat has been loved not only
by Japanese people but also by many people all over the
world. He was appointed Japan's anime ambassador in
2008 because he had been playing an important role in
promoting Japanese anime culture.
Although Doraemon is an imaginary robot, Japan is
proud of its real robots. In fact the country has led the
world in the development of robotic technology for
decades. It is the technology used to develop industrial
robots for manufacturing. Japan has exported a large
number of such robots all over the world.
Japan is also famous for developing unique humanoid
robots such as ASIMO and Pepper. Both robots stand
upright but ASIMO can walk on two feet while Pepper
can read emotions.
