風車があれば私たちはついに飢えという
深刻な問題から自分たちを解放することが
できるだろう。
風車があれば、7時に寝る代わりに
本を読んで私は夜起きていることができるだろう。
マラウィーにとって安定した風が神様が
くれた貴重なものなのです。
教科書の表紙の風車の写真をみて私は
水をくみあげたり、村と家族に電気を
送ったりするための風車を建てるという夢を
もちました。
ぼくの成功を収めた風車の話はマラウイの
「ディリータイムズ」紙の最初に掲載された。
その後、ぼくはTEDグローバルという大きな
国際会議で話をするために2度招かれた。
そこで僕は言った。「自分には夢があったので
ぼくはただ挑戦し、それを実現させただけです。
私は夢にとり組んでいるすべての人々、アフリカ人
そして私のような貧しい人に言いたい。
あなた自身を頼りにして信じなさい。
