whichの直前に前置詞があればいいってことですか？　→　その通り！
①whichを使う場合：I met her on the day. ＋ It was snowing on it(代名詞・目的格＝the day).
→ I met her on the day on which(関係代名詞・目的格) it was snowing.
②whenを使う場合：I met her on the day. ＋ It was snowing then(副詞＝on the day).
→ I met her on the day when it was snowing.
