There are other ways, too. Some of them choose to join short-term work programs at companies called internships. These have some good points. Students will be able to know more about companies they are interested in, such as what kind of jobs there are and what kind of people are working there. Also, internships allow students to get to know other students. These students can encourage each other both during and after the internship. On the other hand, if students choose to join very short internships, they may not be able to understand the job they are doing before the internships end. Also, students who take part in internships may find it difficult to do well in their studies. University students have their future careers. They many things about things about companies and are interested a enable students to find chances to join interships for know other students who in those too. However, they can not understand the job and they confuse their way to study if they join internships only a few days.

If you are able to step outside and hear many types of birds, you might also have a greater feeling of well-being. Two studies show that hearing diverse birdsongs may help increase our happiness. (A) One study was done by researchers at California Polytechnic State University. A research team studied the effects of birdsong ( 1 ) people walking through a park in the U.S. state of Colorado. A biology graduate student, Danielle Ferraro, led the study. "There could be an evolutionary reason why we like birdsong so much. And the idea is that when we hear birdsong it could signal safety to us," Ferraro says. There could be many other reasons, too. Ferraro states that in some areas around the world birdsong can also signal the arrival of spring and nice weather. Bird diversity, she adds, can also mean a healthy environment. She explained her study to Voice of America (VOA). Ferraro and her team played recorded songs from a diverse group of birds native to the area. They did this on hiking trails in a park in Boulder, Colorado. (2) several weeks, the researchers played recorded birdsong at certain times of the day and other times they did not. Then they talked with hikers after they ( 3 ). Hikers who heard the recorded diverse birdsongs reported a greater sense of well-being than the people who heard simply the natural birds. The researchers suggest that both the bird sounds and biodiversity* can increase feelings of well-being. Ferraro explained that she used native birdsong for the study. This way it would sound as natural as possible. They also did the study during the summer. She explains why this is important. "So the study ( 4 ) in the summer and that's kind of important because the spring is most birds' breeding* season. And if we play the birdsong during breeding season, that might have disturbed them. (B) We didn't want to disturb the birds too much." The study was published in an academic journal called the Royal Society B in December 2020. - 10- ◇M2 (310-15)

B You enjoy outdoor sports and have found an interesting story in a mountain climbing magazine. Attempting the Three Peaks Challenge By John Highland Last September, a team of 12 of us, 10 climbers and two minibus drivers, participated in the Three Peaks Challenge, which is well known for its difficulty among climbers in Britain. The goal is to climb the highest mountain in Scotland (Ben Nevis), in England (Scafell Pike), and in Wales (Snowdon) within 24 hours, including approximately 10 hours of driving between the mountains. To prepare for this, we trained on and off for several months and planned the route carefully. Our challenge would start at the foot of Ben Nevis and finish at the foot of Snowdon. Ben Nevis (▲1344 m) Scafell Pike (▲977 m) Snowdon (▲1085 m) We began our first climb at six o'clock on a beautiful autumn morning. Thanks to our training, we reached the summit in under three hours. On the way down, however, I realised I had dropped my phone. Fortunately, I found it with the help of the team, but we lost 15 minutes. We reached our next destination, Scafell Pike, early that evening. After six hours of rest in the minibus, we started our second climb full of energy. As it got darker, though, we had to slow down. It took four-and-a-half hours to complete Scafell Pike. Again, it took longer than planned, and time was running out. However, because the traffic was light, we were right on schedule when we started our final climb. Now we felt more confident we could complete the challenge within the time limit. Unfortunately, soon after we started the final climb, it began to rain heavily and we had to slow down again. It was slippery and very difficult to see ahead. At 4.30 am, we realised that we could no longer finish in 24 hours. - 16- (2110-16)
