文の主語、目的語、副詞・副詞句・節
を強調できる。

※強調構文を作る際の注意点※
①「人」を強調 thatの代わりにwho
[wham〕
「事物」を強調 thatの代わりにwhich
も用いられる。
②もとの文の時制が
現在

過去→ It was
③動詞、形容詞は強調できない。

<目的語の強調>
It is you that are to blame.悪いのは君だ。

<主語の強調>
It is I that am to blame. 悪いのは私です。
強調されるのが主語のとき、
あとの節の動詞はその人称と数に一致。
It is not tea but coffee that I want 私が欲しいのは紅茶ではなくてコーヒーです。
<目的語の強調>
[which〕
私がスニーカーを買ったのはこの店でした。
もとの文に
→ I want not tea but coffee.
