音節について教えてください。ALTの先生が英語の佐藤先生をMr. Satoを「ミスター・セイトウ」と発音します。sa-toと2音節だと思うのですが、どちらも音節もアルファベット発音しているように思います。調べてみるとNATOも「ネイトウ」と発音するようです。母音で終わるこれらの音節はアルファベット発音をすると思っていたところ po-ta-to は「パテイトウ」と一つ目の音節 po の o はフォニックス読みしているように思います。また、オーディオの hifiは「ハイファイ」ですが、テレビの英語ニュースでは、サッカーの FIFAは「ファイファ」ではなく「フィファ」とFIもFAもフォニックス読みしていました(ただし、手持ちの英語ソフトの音声では「ファイファ」と発音)。母音で終わるこれらの音節について何かすっきりしたルールがあれば教えてください。よろしくお願いします。
