mayがmightだというのは分かったのですが、映画は公開されるものなので能動態のshowingではなく受動態のshownではないのですか？

この問題は、「文法的に間違い」個所を選ぶ問題です。
the movies which was showing(自動詞)「上映中の映画」、the movie which was shown(他動詞：受動態)「上映される映画」はどちらも文法的に可能です。

show は自動詞で「(映画などが)公開される」という元々受動的な意味をもっています。そのため「公開されている」で現在進行形にしているのです
