3についての質問です。なぜto do houseworkではなく、doing houseworkなのでしょうか。to do houseworkでは×な理由を教えてください。

そもそもspend to doという表現はないです。
spend 時間 -ingで時間を使うという表現になります。

「兄は論文を書くのにとても忙しい。」
「My brother is very busy writing his graduation thesis.」
この文でto writeではなくwritingを使うのも、そういう使い方しかないからですか？
