「このごろ」をrecently であらわすなら、現在完了進行形にして、The number of ～ increasing の後ろにrecentlyを追加して、The number of ～ has been increasing recently.とすればいいと思います

「このごろ」を these days で表すなら、現在進行形にして、The number of ～ is increasing these days.としてもいいと思います
