意味がおかしいです。
「寝室はすこし小さすぎるが、そのかわり家自体は満足だ」
なにがその代わりなのかわからないです

instead というのは「代用」ないし「代理」を表す言葉です。「家が小さい」の代用が「家が安全」とは考えられないのでNGです。
