初歩的な質問かもしれません、、、
The singer not only sings but also entertains a lot of people.

In my own case, the experience not only gave direction to my life but also gave me an opportunity to think about what it is to live as a human being.

この中で使われているnot only A but also Bなのですが、doesn't(didn't)とならないのはなぜですか？

doesn't Vだと「Vしない」という意味になってしまいます。あくまでAするだけでなくBもするという意味にもっていきたいので後ろの動詞を否定するdoes'tにはなりません。
