4 In modern society, however, it is no use expecting children to
adhere to the traditional "respect for elders" model. Children will
grow up to become independent. Parents should urge their children to
keep to their path and pursue their careers, especially when they are in
their 20s. One of these days, it will occur to the children that they owe
everything they have to their parents. After they become adults, they
will think they ought to have spent more time with their parents. And
it will come home to the parents that they did not need to force their
children to show them respect, but that it came naturally.
