「that it is」の部分を「現在のような」と訳すようですが、どうしてこのような訳になるのでしょうか？

今回はSにあたるのがitで、そのitにあたるのが「私たちの地球」という訳ですね。
ちなちに、that S wasで「過去の～の姿」
