トゥーーーース！！(そうですね、英語は単語を重複するのを避ける言語なのでどちらも意味合い的には同じ役割です。上のbecauseのほうはなぜならでいいと思いますが。下のthis is why は、その前の文の(「葉っぱの下の部分の特別な細胞組織が弱くなること」が葉が強風や強い雨によって破けてしまう理由だ。という感じで、なぜならというよりも、これが破れてしまう原因だみたいな感じですね。)
