「そんなに~ない」が「それほど~ない」という意味なら、not so many の代わりに not that many を使う方がいいかと思います。

There were not that many products.

that many (数えられる名詞の前)
that much (数えられない名詞の前)
「あまり〜ない、それほど〜ない」という意味で 否定文で使われることがあります。
