It was a chilly Christmas night and Jane and John had decided to spend the evening in the warmth of their
cozy home. They had cooked a sumptuous dinner together, () with all of Jane's favorite dishes. As
they sat down to eat, the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree and the soft music playing in the background
set the perfect ambiance for a romantic evening.
After dinner, they cuddled on the couch and sipped on glasses of red wine. Jane couldn't ( 2 ) but feel
a sense of happiness and contentment being with the man she loved on such a special night. She felt like
everything was finally falling into place and that they were destined to spend the rest of their lives together.
①However, her happiness was short-lived. When it was time to exchange gifts, John reached into his pocket
and realized that he had forgotten to buy her a present. Jane tried to hide her disappointment but it was
written all over her face. She felt hurt and let down that the man she loved had forgotten such an important
part of their Christmas tradition.
She went to bed that night feeling distant from John. She tossed and turned, unable to shake off the
disappointment. But as she lay there, she suddenly remembered the ring her grandmother had given her as
a child. Jane's grandmother had given her the ring on her tenth birthday. It was a family heirloom, passed
down from generation to generation. Her grandmother had told her the story behind the ring: it had been
passed down from her great-grandmother, who had (3) it from her husband on their wedding day. The
ring symbolized love, devotion, and commitment, and her grandmother wanted her to have it as a reminder
of the importance of these qualities in a relationship. Jane had treasured the ring ever since, and it held a
special place in her heart. She had never taken it off and often found comfort in its simple beauty. ②But on
this Christmas night, she even wondered if she would no longer need that ring if her devotion to him was
not conveyed.
The next morning, she woke up to a beautiful surprise. There on the ring finger of her left hand was a
gorgeous diamond ring. She couldn't() her eyes. She looked over to see John still asleep next to her,
a peaceful expression on his face. ③She felt an overwhelming rush of love and gratitude toward him. She
leaned over and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek.
As John woke up, he saw the ring on Jane's finger and the smile on her face. He knew that his plan had
worked. He explained that he had been saving up for months to buy her the perfect ring, but wanted to
surprise her on Christmas morning. Jane was touched by his thoughtfulness and the effort he had put into
making her happy.
From that day on, Jane and John's relationship grew stronger. The ring became a symbol of their love and
devotion to each other, and they cherished it for the rest of their lives. Every Christmas, they would reflect
on the special morning when John had given her the ring and how it had (5) them closer together.
They would smile and hold each other tight, thankful for the love they shared. The thought put into two
rings had been fulfilled. (570words)
